Tapestry Woven Square
Tapestry Woven Square
The design of this woven textile is executed in tapestry weave technique perfected in the city of Aleppo. The colloquially known name for it is 'Zok' after a famous local weaver. It is similar to the technique used for killim rugs. Over a warp foundation, the weft is woven discontinuously, resulting in blocks of colors that are loosely connected by the warp. Woolen fabrics such as this one were also woven in Lebanon, Egypt and other parts of Syria.

Keep in mind ...
Our vintage and antique pieces have traveled throughout the world and survived decades - maybe even centuries - of use. Do not expect them to be in perfect or *new* condition. Signs of their past makers and owners may be noticeable such as small holes, loose threads, & stains. In our opinion, this adds to their charm!
