Obi with Peacock Feather Motif
Obi with Peacock Feather Motif
Obis are sashes worn with Japanese kimonos. They are wrapped around the waist and tied following one of a number of particularly styled knots. The most formal obi are double sided, like this example, and the patterns on both sides are carefully spaced to give the greatest effect on the finished knot.
This piece is woven to create a flowing design of either clouds or water, and peacock feathers. The ground is a light peachy pink, and the rest of the design is shades of orange, green, and purple.

Keep in mind ...
Our vintage and antique pieces have traveled throughout the world and survived decades - maybe even centuries - of use. Do not expect them to be in perfect or *new* condition. Signs of their past makers and owners may be noticeable such as small holes, loose threads, & stains. In our opinion, this adds to their charm!
