Luntaya Acheic
Luntaya Acheic
Luntaya acheic is the prized cloth used for skirtcloth, or sarong, in Burma. Luntayas originated as court dress but later came to signify social status outside the court as well. The bright, horizontally patterned silk cloth was woven on a hand loom in an interlocking tapestry technique called acheic. Luntaya refers to the design of horizontal wavelike lines, evocative of the ripples and waves of the Irawaddi, the largest river in Burma.

Keep in mind ...
Our vintage and antique pieces have traveled throughout the world and survived decades - maybe even centuries - of use. Do not expect them to be in perfect or *new* condition. Signs of their past makers and owners may be noticeable such as small holes, loose threads, & stains. In our opinion, this adds to their charm!
