Embroidery Composite
Embroidery Composite
Composites like this one were made from scraps of older Greek and Ottoman embroideries, and in this example the center piece is from Macedonia. The darker inner border is from the bottom of a skirt from Attica, and the red outside border may be from Macedonia or Greece. The embroidery fragments used in these composites tend to be of the most recent vintage in the center while the older pieces are found around the edges.
This piece is backed with linen.

Keep in mind ...
Our vintage and antique pieces have traveled throughout the world and survived decades - maybe even centuries - of use. Do not expect them to be in perfect or *new* condition. Signs of their past makers and owners may be noticeable such as small holes, loose threads, & stains. In our opinion, this adds to their charm!
