Dish with Birds and Butterflies
Dish with Birds and Butterflies
Birds, butterflies, florals, and shapes were hand-painted on to porcelain using colored glazes before firing to create this dish with a watercolor effect. A bird and two butterflies sit on and beside the exaggerated cherry blossom tree. The central image is framed by a pink and blue border outlined with copper red, and it also has some decorations on the under-side of the dish in that same red color.
There aren't any traditional maker marks on the bottom of this piece, but there is a recessed Yuan symbol (元) which could be referencing the monetary unit or Yuan Dynasty.

Keep in mind ...
Our vintage and antique pieces have traveled throughout the world and survived decades - maybe even centuries - of use. Do not expect them to be in perfect or *new* condition. Signs of their past makers and owners may be noticeable such as small holes, loose threads, & stains. In our opinion, this adds to their charm!
