Bidri is a metal handicraft that started in Bidar, India in the 14th century. Silver is overlaid or inlaid to decorate objects made of an alloy of zinc and copper. The base is created by pouring molten metal into a mould, and then it is polished. Designs are then carved into the base and silver is hammered into the patterns. Earlier bidri work, such as this one, depict floral motifs with Persian influence.

Keep in mind ...

Our vintage and antique pieces have traveled throughout the world and survived decades - maybe even centuries - of use. Do not expect them to be in perfect or *new* condition. Signs of their past makers and owners may be noticeable such as small holes, loose threads, & stains. In our opinion, this adds to their charm!
