Waziri Shawl

Waziristan is located in the Northwest province of Pakistan, a remote tribal area bordering Afghanistan.

Waziri dignitaries wear large shawls decorated in a linear scheme. The cotton warp is invisible while the weft face is part blue or black cotton and part silk in bold colors. This particular shawl has some added design elements done in supplementary silk weft as well as Venetian glass beads and small tassels.
