Vernaid Bandage
This is a Vernaid Bandage. It is a cream-colored triangular bandage that has been printed on one side with illustrations of how it can be used. Triangular shaped bandages like this one became popular during the Franco-Prussian War because they could be used to help with such a wide variety of injuries. Based on its registered design number, 710438, this example was probably produced later, around 1925.
England’s Imperial War Museum has a Vernaid Bandage in its collection, as does the Cooper Hewitt, which featured it as an “Object of the Day” in 2013.
