Velvet Jacket (angarakha)
Short jacket of cut velvet with long sleeves, two front pockets and a front overflap closing to the left. The yoke (or dickey) made of the same material.The material is gold thread ground with a supplementary silk warp and silk cut velvet. It is edged with a wide silver brocade floral ribbon which is further edged with narrower ribbons, brocaded and braided. The bright yellow silk lining is edged with bright green. India, late 18th-early 19th C.

Condition: The silk float is loose in armpit and shoulder areas. It is stitched down(old repair) and stabilized. Some overall soiling to lining, but the colors seem remarkably fresh. Very good
