Thai Silk Sari
A full length sari made in the ikat technique for the Hindu market. While about half its length is plain dark red silk and intended to be worn close to the body, its outer part has a field densely decorated with south east Asian elements such as stupas and pagodas. We are not sure whether it was made for export or for the local Hindu market. The design elements and the color scheme are Cambodian and indicate an Eastern Thai origin, probably the Tai-Lao tribe.
