Syrian Shawl
This large headscarf was made in Syria in the 19th century-possibly in Urfa or Aleppo-out of silk and metallic threads. The weaver chose to create a fairly typical black, red, and gold pattern of repeating bands with central diamond shapes. This type of head wrap would have mainly been worn by men.
