Striped Silk Terrycloth Yardage
This striped silk terrycloth yardage was made in Ottoman Turkey in the late 19th or early 20th centuries.
The yardage is of raw, off-white silk woven with alternating stripes of satin and terry clot. Sheets and towels made in Constantinople and Bursa were long cherished import items in Europe and the US and were a staple of their printed catalogs in the late 19th century.
