Striped Silk Sash
Such patterned silk and metallic thread wraps, or “rda”, are traditionally produced in Mahdia and serve as part of a bridal costume. The patterned purple ground is twill-woven, while the variously colored stripes of silk and metallic thread consist of both weft floats and weft-faced plain weave. Warp threads extend beyond each end to form fringes, which are connected with additional weft stripes.
