Persian Finger-Woven Belt
This Persian finger-woven belt was made in the 19th century. The weaver composed it out of yellow, red, and green fibers. The overall composition is bright. The designer used geometric and floral designs to create the main strip of decoration and bordered it with singles rows of triangles or diamonds. This border is offset from the central decoration by a single line of green thread that subtly divides the border from the center. Arabic lettering is enclosed within a narrow oval and flanked by two flowers towards the middle of the belt’s length.
