Ottoman Cape

A cream color wool cape elaborately embroidered in a couched technique with gold and silver metallic thread with tiny beadwork in the details of the tassels. The only contrasting colors are turquoise beadwork and pale aqua silk in the roundel details. The cape is sewn from 4 panels of fine wool and is lined with a heavy satin silk lining.  It features a full shawl collar.

Capes like this were most likely made for export to the European market.
