Naga Double Head Brass Necklace
The Naga people are a group of various tribes that reside in Nagaland, other parts of Northeastern India, and Myanmar. An important part of the community and culture was the practice of beheading and headhunting by men. An enemy’s head was thought to have magical forces that could be used with appropriate rituals to serve the living. When a headhunter was successful, they gained the right to wear special jewelry with head figures on it, each figure representing a head they brought home.
This necklace consists of alternating pairs of orange and blue glass beads, with two brass heads in the center.
