Monumental Mirror Frame

Monumental mirror frame decorated with inlay of wood, camel bone, and mother-of-pearl. The design features meandering vines and abstracted flowers. A large crown on top with a round medallion surrounded by more branches all above a leafy valance.
Syrian workmanship was considered the best in the Middle East, on par with work produced in India. With nice patina and great delicacy, this mirror is an example of great craft that with the civil war in Syria is probably vanishing from the world.
