Lakai Embroidered Square
Five pinwheels with multiple jagged borders. Most lakai squares and shields are on wool or felt. This particular example is on tightly woven cotton.The lakai are nomadic herders of North Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. Their embroideries are more tribal in their symbolism and execution than urban suzanis.
