Hazara Phulkari
Phulkari are silk embroidered cotton or linen shawls of the Punjab area and its vicinities. The area includes a diverse population and one can differentiate the phulkaris into subgroups. The Hindu phulkaris feature figural and animal elements while the Muslim ones have a more abstract design with embroidery that covers the entire ground.
The hazara people of Pakistan are shite muslim and their phulkaris are not as densely embroidered as other phulkaris of Muslim origin and their design elements are naturalistic, in this example a grid of snowflakes.
