Greek Embroidery Fragment
A fragment that was most likely a border of a coverlet or a dress. The linear design features tulips drawn in two ways with smaller shapes of red birds above and two faced blue dragons below. The color scheme has two tones of blue plus red and yellow, now beige. The embroidery is done with a running stitch in diagonal alignment.The Epirus region of mainland Greece was the most influenced by the style of Ottoman invaders as clearly evident in the drawing of flowers and the abstraction of figures.
