Food Offering Bowl Pojagis
Pojagis were used as wraps or covers for gift and they range in size from small when intended to cover food bowls to very large when used to cover beddings.
Pojagis were not commercially manufactured,but rather at home setting a woman would use discarded old scraps and with endless attention to placement and handwork would create a patchwork of aesthetic merit. Pojagis were treasured and treated as family heirlooms which should explain why surviving example are usually in very good condition.
The size and relative stiffness of this hemp patchwork Pojagis indicates that it would have been used as a cover for food offering.
