Embroidered Wallhanging
A long and narrow wall hanging of red wool decorated with a column of embroidered subjects. The top is the mythical animal xilin and the bottom is an elephant. In between them are articles of an interior with furniture and vases with flowers. The embroidery is done with silk and metallic threads. The techniques might as well be constitute sampler of stitching variants. Every conceivable stitching is of the highest quality and it all adds up to a highly textured effect. Two narrow borders that do not match, one could be of a later age.
