Chinese Embroidered Green Silk Skirt
This embroidered green silk skirt was made in China in the 19th century. This skirt is made out of green silk satin embroidered on the front and back panels with polychrome flowers, decorated vases, flying bats, and other auspicious motifs.
All of the embroidery is executed in stain stitch and forbidden stitch. The narrow panels are similarly decorated with flowers and butterflies, all within an embroidered border in three shades of satin stitched blue with floral design. The waistband is a beige tabby cotton, and the skirt is partially lined with orange silk.
