Embroidered Coverlet Fragment
A large fragment of a linen coverlet embroidered with silk of three colors: blue, red and green.A field of alternating rows of either tulips and large leaves or rosettes of two sizes.All shapes enclose within them some further petal ornamentation, and all are within a delicate trellis . The borders feature rosettes and tulips on meandering branches.The very fine embroidery is done with floss double silk thread in a variety of stitches including a counted running stitch and s-rib.Mounted.
