Embroidered Christmas Card

This unique embroidered Christmas card is comprised of seafoam green velvet with intricate gold embroidery throughout. The front of the card states ‘Greetings’ in cursive with a gold embroidered border with raised leaves and vines. Each of the two pages of velvet are backed with seafoam green silk. When opened, the left page has an outline of India with two British flags embroidered in blue and red silk stating ‘Safe Under BR Flag’. To the right of this it says ‘From Raja Sattyamand Pd. Suntro Grandoan of late Raja Siva Prasad CSJ Benares’.

On the right page there is an image of a man painted on ivory, surrounded by seed pearls. To the right ‘With Best Wishes for a Happy Christmas and a Lucky New Year’ is written in seed pearls and gold embroidery. Surrounding this is a border similar to the one on the first page that has raised flowers and vines embroidered in gold. This card is tied together with a gold ribbon and is enclosed in a beige velvet box.
