Embroidered Aba
Aba is a loose fitting tunic of Kutch in western India, worn by women together with pants as a set. Abas are decorated in bandni which is a tie dying technique, zari which is metallic thread couching or with embroidery.The pattern is similar in all and has a large front yoke with more decoration along the shoulders and the sleeves.The high quality work is executed in chain stitch, buttonhole stitch and other stitching techniques and inserted small mirror pieces further contribute to the opulence of the work.
