Chechaouen Arid Fragment
Chechaouen, in the north of Morocco and close to Spain, developped unique embroidery style. Influenced by Hispano- Moresque embroideries, in both motifs (cartouches, sixpoint stars and tracery) and technique(plait stitch). The hangings, Arid, were either bedspreads or wallhangings or were used to drape over mattresses and other beddings.
