Chamba Coverlet (Rumal)
Group of celebrants, Krishna among them, holding hands in a circular design and within multiple floral borders. All embroidered in satin stitched silk on delicate linen ground. This type of coverlet is known as Chamba, produced in the small Hindu Pahari kingdoms, nowadays Himachal Pradesh in northern India. Chamba is a city there, one of a few where this type of embroidery was done.
