Block Printed Calico Fragment
Calico refers to light cotton fabric, covered with a small repeating floral print and originally produced in southwestern India. This dyed green fragment features a woodblock printed motif in red, pink and dark green. Europeans came to admire such textiles for their striking colors and designs as well as for their durability.
