Batik Breastcloth
The batik process involve painting the fabric with wax and dying it. Next, the wax gets removed, exposing the undyed areas. The process is done again for each color, lighter dyes get applied first and darker ones last. The finer the drawing the more precise and challenging the process. This batik features a diamond shape medallion against a field of diagonal grid, intricately decorated with dots, lines and other design elements.It originates from Pekalongan in central Java, an area known for high quality batik production.
