Meet the Team

Jess Petino

Owner (she/her)

Born and raised in Staten Island, Jess began her professional career as a Set Designer, Painter, and Carpenter in the NYC theater scene. Once she started working at Sarajo in 2018 as the gallery assistant and restoration artist, her direction changed. She became the manager in 2019, and has taken over the business from Yosi, the previous owner, as of June 2023. While she is relatively new to the antique textile industry, she is excited to carry the legacy of Sarajo and continue to learn.

She currently resides in Brooklyn with her two children (cats).

Cristina Wright

Creative Lead (she/they)

Cristina Wright is an interdisciplinary artist and collector. After completing a degree concentrated in fibers and textiles she moved to Brooklyn landing roles in boutique retail, advertising and film production. Cristina’s perspective shifted after the pandemic as she vowed to focus on community building and making her way back to textiles. She was welcomed to Sarajo as a Documentarian and has now advanced to Creative Lead. As a practicing artist, she brings knowledge of dyeing and other textile processes. She aims to make Sarajo a center of inspiration for local craft people and designers.
