Coat (Chirpi) Fragment
Stylized tulips with two stick people on either side of center . Chirpis are Turkman women’s gowns that are worn over a tunic, cloak-like, covering the head and shoulders. White ground chirpis are worn by matriarchs and widows only. This is a complete side panel of such a coat. Lacing stitch embroidered silk on cotton.
