Embroidered Deccanese Square
Small embroidery on red wool. The large central metallic thread flower is surrounded by polychrome silk carnations, all within a large circle, with corners similarly embroidered The style of the flowers and the metallic thread meandering vines are Mughal influenced. Similar work was produced in north India, mainly Agra and Delhi, but this piece is likely from the Deccanese plateau of central India.
