Kalimkari Fragment
Kalimkari is a printing process utilizing carved wooden blocks. It sometimes incorporates painted details. The registry, where the borders of the blocks meet, is as important as the quality of the carving of the blocks and the number of colors used. This light weight cotton fragment decorated in a linear scheme with a variety of flowers on a meandering leafy vine. Such fabrics were commonly produced along the Coromandel Coast and in Gujarat.
