Beaded Purse
Beadwork has always been a popular practice among the Indigenous people of South Africa. Before the introduction of imported European glass beads in the 19th century, they would use bone, seeds, shells, ivory, and other natural resources. Glass beads were strung together using a needle and cotton thread to make belts, ornaments, and bags such as this piece.
