Pleated Skirt Panel
Pleated skirt made of tabby cotton and decorated with indigo applied in wax resist technique.This type of skirt would be worn on festive occasions by the females of the Gejia in Qiandongnan, Guizhou. The Gejia belong to the Miao group, however, they maintain their unique language, customs and textile traditions. They are reputed to be descendent of a legendary general and their costumes, skirts worn with square aprons, tall legwarmers and bulky silver jewelry bear resemblance to military uniform.
