Gilt Paper and cotton Runner
Long and narrow red wool band used to decorate rooms or canopied beds. The pattern features lozenges containing stylized flowers and leaves and it is done with applique gilt paper which has multiple borders of couched metallic thread and is accented with faceted mica. The center band with the gilt decoration is flanked by two plain red wool borders.This kind of work is typically done by the Malays in the Palembang and Lumpung regions of Sumatra and also by the Straits Chinese of Malaysia and Singapore.
