Italian Cut Velvet panel
Panel of cut and uncut voided velvet. The design is of allover small scale branches in diagonal rows in dark green set against a yellow or light brown ground. The panel is comprised of two widths of selvedge to selvedge plus a cut width sewn together lengthwise. Quite a few variation to this design exist , one in The Musees Royaux d Art et d Histoire, Brussels and another in the Robert Lehman collection of European textiles.
