Dog Hair Cape

Woman’s waist wrap or sarong (pukhang), made of three pieces sewn together. Plain horizontal stripes are woven in cotton thread. Supplementary weft weave patterning at ends is made of dyed dog hair. One of the long edges is also decorated with narrow bands of zigzagging lines and other geometries. A homemade sarong of this type was/is worn by the Jingpho, a subgroup of the Kachins that live in the Golden Triangle across the Burmese Chinese Laotian. border.
