Shibori Patterned Kimono
This is a shibori patterned kimono made in Japan in the late 19th century.
The ground silk of this kimono has a leaf damask pattern, which the artist overlaid with a second vegetal pattern using a shibori resist dye technique. Japanese textile artists during this time period often used more than one method to decorate their garments and textiles.
