Tapestry Bag
Silk tapestry pouch featuring two distinct designs. The front has a checker design with alternating light blue and silver squares containing two-pointed oval shapes that contain smaller similar shapes. With similarly designed overflap closure. The back has scrolling and interlacing tendrils containing flowering buds. All contained within a red border.The abstarcted design points to export material. The high craftsmanship points to Aleppo origins.The tapestry is plain weft-faced weave having weft threads of different colors worked over portions of the warp to form a design.The warp threads are hidden and the weft yarn discontinuous. Each color weft is interlaced back and forth in its own area.
