Ming Brocade Fragment
Kinran is a luxurious type of brocade woven with supplementary weft of gilded paper. The technique of weaving with paper originated in China during the Song Dynasty, however it was not used in China starting in the Ming dynasty. It was later adapted and perfected in Japan. This fragment style is Chinese and features two kinds of flowers, peony one of them. All affixed onto a red silk ground.
