N’debele Beaded Cape
A cape made of commercially produced striped blanket decorated with bands of beadwork. The beadwork is attached to both sides so that when folded beadwork will face one side only.
Women do N’debele beadwork. When girls reach puberty, they are secluded and taught by their mothers the arts of beading and painting which are not taught in schools.
