Cameroon Beaded Apron / Garment
A Kirdi people cache-sex from the Mandala mountains, Cameroon. Cameroon women wore cache-sex pre-1960. The literal translation is “to hide sex.”
They are made of glass beads, cowry shells, cotton thread. Made in geometric patterns formed by brightly colored beads often sharing designs from other neighboring peoples. The garment is worn on special occasions such as weddings. The Kirdi live in small farming communities and are known for their garments of personal adornment.
