Nakshe Trouser Cuff
“Naske” meaning (design)that is panels used to make the trousers worn by Iranian women. Made of one piece of cloth which has been embroidered very closely with fine silk in autumnal colors in a diagonal stripe. They are so firm and solid that they seem like miniature carpets. These Nakshe are becoming rare to find.
This example shows how the complex pattern is built up in a series of angular brackets that were worked first in both the narrow and the wider stripes and then other colors were used to form the outlines of the blossoms.
